‘A possibility’: Liverpool could sell £37m player and replace him with someone who scores more – journalist

Liverpool have just said goodbye to Jurgen Klopp, and that may not be the only emotional farewell from Anfield this summer.

Indeed, Liverpool are at a bit of a crossroads at the moment after the departure of Klopp and the arrival of a new recruitment team.

A number of players have been linked with a move away from Anfield this summer, and one player whose future appears to be uncertain is Luis Diaz.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, David Lynch has been discussing Diaz’s Liverpool future, and he says that there’s a chance the £37m man is sold and replaced by someone who scores more goals.

Luis Diaz could leave Liverpool

Lynch shared what he knows about the winger.

“The one thing I would say on Diaz is that it’s not a clear-cut one. My understanding is that Liverpool are happy to keep him, but they believe his output could be slightly better if they can do something where they lose Diaz and replace him with someone who scores a few more goals, maybe that’s something they’d look into,” Lynch said.

“It’s a possibility, not one that I’d completely rule out in the way I would with Alisson and Nunez but not one you’d say would definitely depart this summer. I think he’s a really interesting story going into the summer for Liverpool. It’s one of those where it’s almost 50-50 at the moment,” Lynch said.

Sadio Mane replacement

Selling Diaz sounds like a silly idea considering how good he has been this season.

However, at the same time, Liverpool were always at their best when they had two goalscoring wingers, rather than someone more creative like Diaz.

Indeed, as good as Diaz has been, he’s not exactly proven to be a proper Sadio Mane replacement, due to his lack of goals.

Goals are the currency of football, and while Diaz is brilliant, if Liverpool can swap him out for someone with more firepower, that wouldn’t be such a bad idea.
