Liverpool have been linked with a move for Boca Junior youngster Valentin Barco – a player who’s already impressed Alexis Mac Allister.

Jurgen Klopp looks set to bolster his squad in January after an impressive start to the season with Liverpool.

The Reds currently sit just one point behind league leaders Manchester City and may just be dreaming of challenging for the Premier League title once again.

Of course, Liverpool were way off the pace last season but will be hoping to build on a promising start to the current campaign and they have been linked with a move for Argentine prospect Valentin Barco.

Indeed, Italian outlet Calciomercato reports that Liverpool are eying a move for Barco, with Juventus also strongly interested.

The 19-year-old has impressed for Boca Juniors this season, having registered five goal involvements in 30 appearances.

He’s yet to make his debut for Argentina but his compatriot, Alexis Mac Allister, feels he could have a big future ahead of him.

Mac Allister has already praised Liverpool target Valentin Barco

Speaking to D Sports Radio earlier this month, Mac Allister claimed that opponents find it difficult to take the ball away from Barco.

“He has a lot of ability and even when it looks like the opponents are going to take the ball away from him, nobody can take it away from him,” the Liverpool midfielder said.

“He’s still young and we have to take it little by little. I see him very focused, even if sometimes on the pitch he sometimes throws a little bit too much.

“He can be a very important player for our country and represent us very well in Europe.”

Barco has mainly operated on the left wing for Boca Juniors but has also been used as a left-back and in central midfield.

His versatility could be appealing for Klopp, especially as Andy Robertson is currently sidelined.

Kostas Tsimikas has stepped up well in the Scotsman’s absence but Barco would be an exciting option for Liverpool.
