Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk says he has “the best ‘job’ in the world” after winning the Reds’ Player of the Month award for February.
The Reds defender has won the accolade for the first time this season after helping Jurgen Klopp‘s side record five wins last month.
As per the Liverpool website, Van Dijk won the award ahead of Caoimhin Kelleher and Conor Bradley, who took second and third place respectively.
The 32-year-old started all six Reds fixtures in February and, in addition to his defensive duties, registered two crucial goals.

The £220,000-a-week ace also scored the winner in the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea, heading home in the 118th minute to lift his first trophy as Reds captain.
Van Dijk told the Liverpool media team at the AXA Training centre on Friday: “I’m proud, of course.
“But the first feeling I’m getting is that obviously it’s a massive credit to all the boys that have stepped up for us to get the results.”
The Dutchman went on to say: “I’m an important member for the team and for the club, and I want to pay it back in performances and with the way I conduct myself on and off the pitch and be there for the team.
“I really enjoy it and, in my opinion, I’ve got the best ‘job’ in the world, and it’s obviously a dream for me to play on the highest level and playing for a club like Liverpool.”
Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk deserves Anfield statue – opinion
It’s amazing to think that there were people who questioned whether Van Dijk was past his best not long ago.
Van Dijk has answered those critics emphatically, returning to the top of his game and rightfully earning recognition for his heroics over the past month.
The former Southampton and Celtic man is surely at the level where he deserves a statue outside Anfield in the coming years.
He has contributed so much to the club’s rise from relative mediocrity to their latest golden age.
