Premier League legend Alan Shearer has spoken out on Liverpool after hearing news of Mo Salah potentially being injured.
Salah limped off for Egypt in the AFCON with what looked like a hamstring problem. The Liverpool star has already been ruled out of the next two AFCON games and Jurgen Klopp has admitted he’s unsure when he’ll be back in action.
Of course, Salah’s form this season has been exceptional and if he is out, then Liverpool will be worried.

“The hamstring injury that Mohamed Salah has picked up while playing for Egypt is a concern, but I don’t think Jurgen Klopp’s side are short of firepower without him. Klopp can start with any three of Salah, Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota, and if it is not working he can flip them in the second half to change the game, something we have seen them do so many times in the past few months. That’s what makes Liverpool a real threat for me, but it is not the only reason I think they will be in this race until the end,” Shearer said.
Liverpool need Salah
Shearer makes a good point on the depth the Reds have but the bottom line is if Liverpool are to win trophies, then Salah needs to be fit.
Those players Shearer mentions are all good in their own way but none are at the level of Mo Salah.
Salah wins games on his own and over the stretch of the season, there’s always the odd occasion when a moment of magic wins it.
Jurgen Klopp will be half hoping Egypt go out so he can get Salah back to Liverpool and nurse him back to full fitness.
Right now, a hamstring injury is never a good sign and given his importance to his country, there’s every chance he’s rushed back if they are in dire need.
