141 It now seems as if a manager who’s impressed Mikel Arteta in the past could be an outside candidate to replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.
Now Michael Edwards is in place at Anfield and Richard Hughes doesn’t seem too far behind, Liverpool should now be ready to step up their manager search.
Although there’s still a lot to be achieved this season, the board will surely want to have a good idea of Klopp’s successor before the season ends.
It’s pretty remarkable to think that Klopp could still achieve another league title before he leaves this summer, a story that would never be forgotten.
And therein lies the task for Liverpool’s new hierarchy, trying to continue that success without a dip in form.
It certainly seems as if their playing squad is in excellent shape, there’s plenty to work with for any new manager.
And although Xabi Alonso remains the fan favourite, journalist Jonathan Johnson has now thrown Franck Haise’s name in the ring.
The 52-year-old is currently doing an excellent job at Lens, and could prove to be an outside candidate.

Johnson shared his update in the CaughtOffside newsletter and said that Liverpool have been impressed with Haise’s work in Ligue 1 for a few years now.
He explained: “Although we’ve heard a lot about names like Xabi Alonso and Roberto De Zerbi, Lens manager Franck Haise has also been linked as one potential outsider for the Liverpool job after his impressive work in Ligue 1.
“My understanding is that, yes, there has been interest in him going back a couple of years now, not just from Liverpool but also from other clubs across Europe.
“Haise has spoken about the Liverpool links publicly and said he’s quite flattered, and that it gives validation to the good work that he and his staff and players have done so far.”
Of course, it will be rewarding to hear that yet another manager is flattered by interest shown by Liverpool.
Franck Haise is thought to be an excellent tactician and even Mikel Arteta admitted how ‘impressed’ he was with the Frenchman following their ties in the Champions League this season.
Certainly one to keep an eye on, and a name which could become more prevalent should Xabi Alonso edge towards Bayern Munich.
That being said, a different candidate to replace Jurgen Klopp is now said to becoming unsettled in his current job.
