A player Michael Edwards wants to sign for Liverpool has now opened the door to a potential exit from his current club.
The comments were made during an interview with UOL over the international break.
So, which Liverpool target has opened the door to a transfer? Let’s take a look…
Bruno Guimaraes admits he is aiming to leave Newcastle one day as Liverpool circle
Well – according to Spanish news outlet AS – the Reds are expected to make a move for Newcastle No.39 Bruno Guimaraes this summer with Edwards now in place as CEO of Football at Anfield.
It comes amid doubts over Newcastle’s financial situation, with the Guardian claiming the Eddie Howe may have to part with a key player this summer to stay aligned with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules.
Everton and Nottingham Forest have already received point deductions for breaching these rules.
Now, Guimaraes has admitted that he doesn’t really know what is going to happen with his immediate future at Newcastle, but knows he does not intend to stay on Tyneside forever.

I’m happy at the club, I never know what’s going to happen. We’ll try to get to European tournaments, I can’t say much about football. I don’t know what’s going to happen. I’m happy at the club.
“I’ve always wanted to play here, I’ve followed the Premier League. Everything’s been going well at Newcastle since I arrived, I play among the best. I plan to play here for a long time, but I’m also aiming to move in the future. I’m happy to be here in the league.”
The £40m man Guimaraes – who Pep Guardiola recently praised – has made 40 appearances in all competitions for Newcastle so far this season, scoring three goals while also providing seven assists.
Michael Edwards could sign the Brazilian or Joshua Kimmich
Despite the arrivals of Wataru Endo, Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai last summer, it sounds as if Edwards would like to sign at least one new central midfielder.
Aside from Guimaraes, there is also believed to be strong interest in Bayern Munich No.6 Joshua Kimmich – according to BILD in Germany.

Therefore, don’t be surprised to see a new central midfielder arrive at Liverpool soon.
