Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai has made a huge name for himself since his summer move to Anfield.

The Reds star joined as part of the club’s rebuild, one of the various replacements for the midfielders that left Anfield in summer.

Liverpool paid a reported £60million to sign Szoboszlai. Much like Virgil van Dijk, he’s more than justifying his high transfer fee by improving the team as a whole.

As per Liverpool.com, “he seems to have everything attached to his profile from physicality to technique to industry to creativity to everything in between”.

Now, Szoboszlai’s staggering speed has been put in the spotlight, with the Premier League‘s media team publishing data on the fastest players so far this term.

Liverpool ace Dominik Szoboszlai clocked at higher speed than Everton star Anthony Gordon

The Liverpool ace registered the fourth-fastest sprint of the season – 36.76km/h – in the league meeting with Wolves in September.

It’s also the fifth-fastest recorded sprint of all time in the Premier League, though records only started being taken fairly recently in 2020/21.

Szoboszlai’s sprint was faster than that of Everton speedster Anthony Gordon, who was ninth in the all-time list with 36.68km/h against Burnley in September.

Speed has always been important in the game, but in the Premier League, with standards going ever higher, speed is proving more crucial than ever.

All but one of the highest ever recorded sprints in the league are from the past 12 months. Only Antonio Rudiger’s sprint against Brighton in December 2021 – 36.72km/h – is from outside that period.

It’s good to know that Liverpool have some real speedsters in their ranks, and when you consider the player in question is a midfielder, it just goes to show how many strings he has to his bow.
