Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has plenty of young talent he can call upon at the club.

The Reds have a history of developing world-class players, with Trent Alexander-Arnold the most recent to established himself as a key player.

Liverpool named a number of young players among the squad that travelled to Dubai this month.

It ended with several of them being given minutes as part of the Dubai Super Cup.

Another player who was given his chance was 17-year-old winger Ben Doak.

Doak is certainly a player to watch going forward, and could be set to have a very exciting next 12 months.

He impressed against AC Milan during his seven-minute cameo, setting up a goal for Darwin Nunez.

“Of course, when you bring on the kids in the second half and you see the pass from Bobby Clark and the whole performance from Stefan [Bajcetic],” Klopp said.

The performance from Mel [Frauendorf] as a right full-back and then Ben Doak comes on, 17 years old, and is this kind of natural force, it’s really cool to see.”

Doak is one to watch at Liverpool

The teenage winger has already appeared in one of the world’s biggest derbies in his very short career.

Doak made two appearances for Celtic – including against Rangers in the Old Firm derby – before joining Liverpool.

His £600,000 transfer fee could end up looking like an absolute bargain in the years to come.

He signed his first professional contract last month, in the same week he made his first-team debut in the Carabao Cup.

Doak is a direct, technically-excellent right-winger, who was already been praised for his exceptional work-rate.

He’s already been compared to a young Wayne Rooney, and certainly has an eye for goal.

His four goals and four assists in the UEFA Youth League helped Liverpool finish top of their group.

Doak is certainly a player to watch at that level but looks set to be more and more involved with the first team.

Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota are currently injured, meaning Klopp will have to reshuffle his attackers.

It could mean Mohamed Salah is shifted infield if Nunez ends up playing on the left-wing.

Doak could be given some opportunities to impress, especially in cup games, if Klopp’s other attackers are still struggling with their fitness.

If this isn’t the case, Doak may even be sent out on loan, which at his age is almost unprecedented at Liverpool.

However, Doak’s not your average academy player, and could be set to shine for the Reds in the very near future.
