Liverpool produced another fine display to see off Brentford yesterday as left-back Kostas Tsimikas found a bit of form along the way.
Tsimikas has often struggled to look the part since moving to Anfield in a deal worth around £12m back in the summer of 2020.
With Andy Robertson out, there is a big chance for Tsimikas to show what he can do and he produced the goods against Brentford yesterday.
However, it’s not all been rosy for Tsimikas during his time at Liverpool. Indeed, this season in particular has been hard for the left-back, with Tsimikas himself admitting that he’s been feeling pretty glum about his football.
Kostas Tsimikas says he’s been in a rotten mood lately
Speaking after the game to ViaPlay, Tsimikas admitted that he’s been in a bad mood lately.
“For me this period was one of the worst moods of my life the way I played, but I showed myself today what I really can do. That’s the only thing I can do, be focussed and to give everything,” Tsimikas said.

Everyone at the club knows just how good Robertson has been for the last few years and so the pressure on Tsimikas to step up and do the same job is always going to be big.
Of course, he is a different player himself and has his own strengths and attributes. And while he might not be quite up to the level Robertson is, he showed yesterday he can more than contribute.
Tsimikas will just need to keep going, get his head down, and do as his manager asks. If he then loses his place back to Robertson when he’s back, at least he’ll know he did all he can to make an impression.
