A big blow for Valencia.
Liverpool FC’s Giorgi Mamardashvili, on loan at Valencia this season, has been ruled out for the rest of the year with a thigh injury. The 24-year-old Georgian international picked up the injury during a narrow 1-0 defeat to Rayo Vallencano.
Valencia will rue this setback as they sit second-last in the La Liga standings and have needed Mama to save them on many occasions. The Yashin trophy nominee has made 14 appearances this season and managed three clean sheets in those games.
Signed in August for a reported £30 million, Liverpool’s interest in this matter will be that it doesn’t become a long-term issue for one of Europe’s most promising goalkeepers. On the other hand, Valencia will want Mama back as soon as possible. They need more of his impressive shot-stopping, box command, and penalty-saving abilities to even stand a chance at surviving the drop to the Segunda/La Liga 2.
