A few more Liverpool men featured for their national teams on Sunday.
The international break continued through Sunday, with Portugal and Scotland facing off in the UEFA Nations League, and even some time for young Lions Trey Nyoni and Carter Pinnington in the Lafarge Foot Avenir Tournament.
Diogo Jota and Andy Roberston were both named to the starting squads for Portugal and Scotland in Lisbon. Scotland opening the scoring through a Scott McTominay goal in the seventh minute, but Portugal found an equalizer from Bruno Fernandes in the 54th minute, and then a late winner from Cristiano Ronaldo in the 88th. Academy grad Ben Doak also came on as a substitute also late in the match.
Also in the Nations League, Conor Bradley played a full 90 minutes for Northern Ireland in their 1-0 loss to Bulgaria.
As for the youngsters, Trey Nyoni and Carter Pinnington were included for the U18 England squad for the final match of the Avenir Tournament. Nyoni scored again as they drew against France before winning in a penalty shootout to take the whole tournament.
Alexis Mac Alisster and Luis Diaz are both expected to feature on Tuesday when the South American sides of Argentina and Colombia face off before the Reds all return to action on Saturday against Nottingham Forest.
