The former gaffer sent a sweet message.
Liverpool FC’s Curtis Jones made his 100th appearance for the club in last night’s 3-1 win against Leicester City. The 23-year-old notched himself a goal early in the second half, getting on the end of an Alexis Mac Allister pass to ease Liverpool ahead.
Speaking to BBC’s Match of the Day after the game, the midfielder revealed he received a special message from former boss Jürgen Klopp on his milestone:
“I came in then, and normally text family, and I saw a text off [Jurgen] Klopp saying ‘congratulations on 100 games, and here’s to 500′.”
“I was like, what is he on about?’ I just checked then, and I am proud. “
“It was him who set up the team we have now. The foundation was there and Arne Slot has carried it on.”
He also discussed the Reds’ seven-point lead at the top of the Premier League table:
“It looks good, but there are plenty of games to come.”
“You can play a team at the bottom, middle or top, and it is a hard game.”
“It is about trying to win every single game, and if we do that, everybody knows what comes at the end.”
Jones has been a key cog for Liverpool all season, impressing with his ball retention, pressing, and energy. With Dominik Szoboszlai suspended for Sunday’s game in London against West Ham United, expect him to be involved again. Up the Reds.
