Liverpool’s injury struggles aren’t getting any better through the international break.
Liverpool’s season thus far has been a bit topsy turvy. What with form coming in streaks and reflected in their positioning at 6th on the WSL table. And that’s all before considering the mid-season firing of Matt Beard.
One of the contributing factors to this tumultuous season has been the number of injuries that hit the club. It seemed like things were getting better headed into the international break, with folks making it back to the squad.
Though one might hope that the break might provide a bit of a respite - or an opportunity for folks needing to recover to get that extra time between league play - whatever is guiding the narrative in elite football has decided that wouldn’t be the case for Liverpool. While playin for Wales on Friday, Ceri Holland was stretchered off the pitch. The updates have been light, with the Welsh FA providing a minor update but with a major bit that will uplift fans: it looks like Holland’s injury is not as severe as feared.
That’s certainly welcome news but the lack of further context will likely do little to soothe the nerves. Here’s hoping that we get more details and, most importantly, more positive news that will mean Holland will be back on the pitch sooner rather than later.
