The Liverpool academy player once again impressed yesterday, but he might be headed out on loan in search of more play time.
Jayden Danns made his 7th appearance for Liverpool yesterday when he came on as a second half substitute against Accrington Stanley. In his 20-minute cameo, he once again found the back of the net, his third goal in his short senior career so far.
However, there’s an alternative reality where Danns did not suffer a preseason injury, and would’ve been out on loan and unavailable for Liverpool. That was reportedly the plan, and Danns may yet head out on loan before the end of the transfer window this month.
“I don’t know at the moment,” Slot said about the possibility of Danns going out on loan.
“What I like most about [Danns] and most of the academy players is the mentality they have.
“That is a big compliment to him and definitely a big compliment to our youth academy because if you are a youngster and come to the first team, sometimes you’re used in a way you might not expect.
“What his potential is, that probably needs some time to find out if he, in the end, will be a starter for us but he will have a very good career because of his mentality, I’m very sure of.”
Danns probably needs more senior minutes of football before making the big jump up to be a serious contender to displace any of Liverpool’s top 6 attackers. But Danns does seem to have a knack bagging goals, something that will leave him in good stead at any club he ends up at.
