Liverpool have been linked with a number of midfielders over the past few months.
Speculation has only intensified with the Reds’ injury list growing during the early weeks of the season.
Liverpool have also suffered their worst start to a Premier League campaign under Jurgen Klopp.
Photo by Michael Regan/Getty ImagesThe Reds have failed to win any of their opening three matches for the first time since 2012‑13.
Therefore, it’s unsurprising to see Liverpool-related transfer talk intensifying with a week left of the window.
Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Leandro Paredes is one of the latest players apparently on the Anfield radar.
According to CMW, Liverpool could offer PSG a straight-swap deal for Paredes involving Roberto Firmino.
Both players are valued at €25-30m (£21-25m), claimed the Italian outlet.
However, Liverpool’s interest in Paredes has seen Juventus look to get a deal done as soon as possible.
And the player himself favours a move to the Turin giants, added CMW.
Liverpool may be too late – TBR View
Paredes is a great player who would certainly be able to do a good job for Liverpool.
Total Football Analysis has described him as ‘a natural regista whose ability as a passer is exceptional’.
However, it looks as though Paredes is Juve-bound, and it may be too late for the Reds to hijack the bid.
In addition, Liverpool probably won’t be able to offer him regular football once their injury crisis eases.
And at 28, Paredes wouldn’t offer much in terms of resale value.
At the same time, Liverpool desperately need reinforcements.
So it’ll be interesting to see how they fare in the last week of the transfer window.
