With Nottingham Forest fading, Liverpool’s manager is favourite to win Manager of the Season—but there’s no room for Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta on the shortlist.

Having led Liverpool to the Premier League title with a month to spare in his first season in charge of the club after taking over for departing legend Jürgen Klopp, it’s no surprise that Arne Slot is a finalist for Manager of the Season.

Liverpool’s Dutch head coach is if anything the increasingly heavy favourite to win the prize due to the fading of Nuno Espírito Santo’s Nottingham Forest. Forest had seemed a lock to finish top four having but dropped to seventh in recent weeks.

Had Nuno’s underdog Tricky Trees avoided their late-season stumble and held on to a Champions League qualification place, many would have had the Portuguese manager as favourite—now, Slot’s title win likely puts him first.

Meanwhile, despite Arsenal confidence to start the season, Mikel Arteta’s failures to capitalize on the struggles of Manchester City keep and pace with Liverpool in his sixth season in charge mean the Spaniard isn’t even in the mix.

Along with Slot and Forest’s Nuno Espírito Santo, the finalists for 2024-25’s Manager of the Season in the Premier League is a list of five rounded out by Brentford’s Thomas Frank, Newcastle’s Eddie Howe, and Wolves’ Vitor Pereira.
